Seniors and those caring for them can get important information about guarding against elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation at the North Texas Forum on Elder Abuse, presented by the Dallas Area Agency on Aging. The free event is open to the public, on Friday, June 14, 2013, from 8:30 to 11:00 AM, at Irving Heritage Senior Center, 200 S. Jefferson Street, Irving, TX.
As part of a panel on protecting against financial exploitation of elders, Jeannette Kopko of Better Business Bureau in Dallas will discuss “Scams Aimed at Seniors”. Dallas BBB will also be on hand with information about recognizing and avoiding scams.
“Scammers know how to target seniors and prey on their fears and desire to remain independent,” said Jeannette Kopko, spokesperson for BBB serving Dallas and Northeast Texas. “Seniors and those close to them can guard against scams by knowing how scams work and what to do to avoid being taken.”
