A Dallas homeowner tells Byron Harris of WFAA-TV, Ch. 8, Dallas - Fort Worth, why she'll always read before she signs in the future. After a recent hailstorm, she agreed to a roof inspection -- only to find that the roofer wanted to hold her to a contract or charge a cancellation fee.

"Listen to what the salesman says and compare it with what's in writing, because it's only what's in writing in the contractor agreement that you're going to be able to hold them to," advised Jeanette Kopko of the Better Business Bureau serving Dallas and Northeast Texas.

The roofing company and a Dallas police spokesperson agree – read before you sign to make sure you know what you’re getting into.
